Klappentext
Universities are under increased pressure to ensure that graduates have access to education that supports them in contributing to sustainable futures. According to the GreenComp reference framework that was introduced by the European Commission (2022), there is a set of sustainability competences that help learners develop knowledge, skills and attitudes that promote ways to think, plan and act with empathy, responsibility, and care for our planet and public health.
Each of the four main chapters in this book focus on one of the four competency areas outlined in the European Sustainability Competencies Framework. These areas are: embodying sustainability values, embracing complexity in sustainability, envisioning sustainable futures, and acting for sustainability. This book is a compilation of edited cases, opinion essays, and research outputs that focus on innovative pedagogical approaches to prepare students to address global sustainability challenges. It presents a collection of cutting-edge pedagogies that, combined with industry-relevant practices and challenges, can enhance curriculum design and embed methods that support students in developing transferable skills. Each chapter is mapped across the SDGs and concludes with a discussion guide at the end, along with teaching resources to help tutors and facilitators create, present, and evaluate the content of their sessions.
This book is for educators, consultants, coaches and trainers seeking access to ideas and pedagogical approaches that help learners develop green skills and competencies for sustainable futures.
